Community Games 2013 - Bowling Carnival Games

Events

Thanks to Community Games, we were invited to a bowling game! Among so many games available for this year’s CG2013, bowling is one of the few games I would love to join to compete.

Thanks to Orchid Bowl @ Orchid Country Club, a groups of bloggers were invited to witness the opening game for Community Games Bowling Carnival and a chance to ‘strike’ up an interactive and fun-filled afternoon. I’m so happy I was able to bring my wife and daughter along!

Looking at the participants waiting anxiously for the lanes to be prepared, reminds me of my previous competitions. Stress!

Lanes are oiled to be at it’s best for a good fight.

We are not invited to sit around too, it’s out turn to show our power!

Kless’s stance is as good as always. I totally love it when my wife and I can enjoy a game together.

We had a great time of bowling and linking up with the rest of the bloggers.

Isn’t it cool for CG2013 to bring families together?

Singapore Memory Project - Chinatown Photowalk

Events

As part of Singapore Memory Project (SMP), the National Library Board launched ‘My Home, My Library’ – Singapore’s first nation-wide exhibition across all 25 libraries in Singapore – showcasing unforgettable memories and stories of people, places and events relating to their homes, neighbourhood and libraries.

And the instagrammers network (@instasg) invited a group of instagrammers to join them on a guided walking tour by Aik Beng (@aikbengchia) to explore some of Singapore’s ‘forgotten’ landmarks and gems.

The tagged pictures (#sgmemory) will be part of NLB archive – to be preserved and shared with future Singaporeans. Quoting Aik Beng, “the simple photo we take today can be a special memory which could be lost in 10-20 years time.”

Come to think of it, this is such a meaningful event, I will definitely be looking at things around me with a very different perspective from now on.

Here are some of the instagram photos I have taken.

I Am A Father

If you have not heard about us, now is the time to check us out. Click on the picture below to visit our site. Also join us on FB and contribute your experience as a father.

Daddy Matters 2

Daddy Matters started because one of the Daddies, Winston aka The Blogfather, took an April Fool’s Day joke one step further. 11 fathers gathered online to discuss about this idea of setting a community page for sharing of fatherhood experiences. The rest are history.

Fatherhood is probably one of the least talk about topics in modern parenting. The notion of ‘absentee fatherhood’ is real and has been around for the past decade or so. So personally I am just glad to finally have some sort of platform where the active Daddy Bloggers can convene on ideas and bounced off experiences.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the question posed in our recent talk was, “When did you first – truly – realise you were a dad?”

As dramatic as it may sound, when Joey was born, I was alone outside the delivery theatre. I can only hear her cries from within and immediately tears welled in my eyes. At that moment, I was thinking to myself she is my flesh and blood, she is the special one. The rest of the days passed by like a flash. I don’t even have time to sit down and ponder about fatherhood. It was just work, take care of baby, work and more taking care of baby.

Soon, Joey turns 1 and she has already learnt to call me Daddy. It was a wonderful feeling, a new title added to my profile.

By the time Joey turns 4 and ready to start some schooling, a new phase of fatherhood has begun. Besides providing the necessities of living, now I have to learnt to teach and lead by example. That brought out a new me I didn’t even know, to be an example for your child is not an easy task.

So to answer the question, when do I start to realise I am a Dad? I think there isn’t a specific phase but rather a gradual curve of realisation as a Daddy learns to Guide, Guard & Govern his family (child).

The Art Of The Brick

One of the perks of being a parent blogger for us is the opportunity to bring our girls to places we would not normally plan to go. Not because the place is not interesting, but rather it can be quite costly to bring the entire family for such events.

Recently, we were invited to the ArtScience Museum @ MBS. The Art of the Brick is an exhibition that started since last November and was given an extension due to the good response from the public.

The artist who brought us the wonderful creations is Nathan Sawaya, based in New York, he transformed LEGO bricks into awe-inspiring and thought-provoking sculptures.

The exhibition has been extended to 26 May 2013, so if you are interested, don’t miss the chance again. For a family of four like us, the total cost would be $48.

Media passes for us. This is the first time we brought Joey out after the horrible accident during Easter. Glad to see a smiley face again!

Take the lift to level 3 and a colourful wall greets us. Coupled with 2 beautiful girls.

One of the more popular sculptures we have seen many times on advertisement is this yellow brick hollow man. It actually reminds me of the movie, “Hollow Man” by Kevin Bacon.

After all the exhibition pieces, the girls were long bored. Finally they had the chance to play some LEGO pieces and exhibit their own creativity.

First, formulating the design on the drawing board.

Then it’s time to build the design out.

It was a great break for the girls after being cooped at home for more than a week. As for us, we are just happy to have our cheerful girls back.

My favourite photo!
