Food Review
Affordable food and great view don’t always go hand-in-hand. But thanks to the recently opened Spuds & Aprons @ Mount Faber, nothing is impossible. For those who drives, daily free valet service is applicable for all diners (with a min. spending of $30). Or if you choose to travel in by cable car from HarbourFront/ Sentosa, you will get a 15% discount off total bill (just produce your cable car ticket).
Our experience totally amplified the slogan on the door, “come hungry leave happy”.
The refurbished restaurant is more family-friendly and even the girl is more relaxed to choose her own meal.
The restaurant has both an indoor and outdoor dining area. The indoor (where we dined) has a seating capacity of 50.
What to recommend?
Wicked Fries & Gravy (S$8)
Steakhouse cut Spuds with 6 types of Cheeses & Brown Gravy
If you are fries-lover, then this is a no-brainer. Initially, I thought the cheeses will dominate the taste, but in fact together with the gravy, it enhanced the taste of this dish.
Chilli Crab in a Tux (S$12)
Chilli Crab stuffed in Potato Skins
If there is a MUST ORDER dish, I would highly recommend this dish. The chilli crab is fantastic, coupled with the crispy potato skins, it’s simply heavenly.
Asian Caesar Salad (S$12)
Romaine Lettuce, Chinese Barbecue Meat, Boiled Egg & Parmesan Cheese
Not sure to categorize this as a healthy salad or unhealthy because of the BBQ meat? Nonetheless, a bit of greens is always welcome.
Roast Chicken and Pineapple Pizza (S$7)
Kids’ Menu
For children aged under 10, you can order this pizza (the size is also suitable for an adult) or Mini Salmon Steak or Spaghetti & Meat Ball or Derrick’s Spud Croquette.
Tobiko Crusted Cod Fillet (S$28)
Atlantic Cod Fillet with Omega 3 goodness, Oven Roasted, topped with Tobiko & served with Green Tea Soba Noodles & Aged Ponzu SauceKless’ choice for the night was this perfectly done Cod Fillet. Again for me to say that (not a fish-lover), you got to know this is special enough. The Tobiko (flying fish roe) on top of the fillet creates that mild salty taste to enhance the entire feel about this dish. Coupled with the Soba Noodles was quite a surprise, a nice touch to probably add something different from the usual.
Grilled Ribeye (S$35)
150-day Grain Fed Ribeye, Char-grilled to your preference & served with Truffle Butter
Pardon me for the choice, I should have ordered the other highly recommended Crispy Pork Belly but I can’t stop myself from having my favourite steak especially after a long while since I last had a Ribeye. But trust me, this dish is a winner too! Done to almost perfection on the grill, I totally enjoyed the cut with a slight tinge of the sea salt just round the chopboard. And for the price, the portion is quite alright too.
Don’t just sit and enjoy the meal, before you order your dessert or drinks, take some time to enjoy the beautiful view from the restaurant.
Remember, if you drink don’t drive. Since I was driving that night, I chose a simple Mocktail.
Spuds & Aprons’ Sodas with Nata D’ Coco Jello (S$8)
Jar of Happiness (S$10)
Shortbread Biscuits with Almond Flakes, Mixed Berries, Ben & Jerry’s Vanilla Ice Cream, Topped with Warm Berry Compote
So that’s all from me and my personal opinions. I will be looking forward to visit the restaurant again. I think the price is reasonable and the food is nice. Some very nice dishes in fact. Hope you will find some time to give it a try too.
