If you are a food-lover like me, or just occasionally looking for a nice place to enjoy a drink with friends, the let me introduce to you the dining privileges offered by AmEx for its American Express Platinum Cardmembers.
With the generous gesture from American Express (AmEx) online PR campaign, we were given the chance to dine at some of the finest restaurants in town and enjoy as much as 50% discounts. Taking the opportunity to bring my wife out for a nice evening of food and drinks, this is what I planned for her.
Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream (15 points scored with wife)
With the AmEx Platinum, we can enjoy the Private Deals and made it special for my wife. Which girl doesn’t appreciate some Mango & Raspberry ice cream?
We took a slow walk along Orchard Road and reached the next venue for the specially planned dinner treat. Making use of the Far Card membership benefits, I was able to enjoy 50% discount on the total bill.
Mikuni (50 points scored with wife)
Mikuni in Japanese means 3 kingdoms, hence the interior dining space is also divided into 3 distinctive areas offering Sushi, Teppanyaki and Robatayaki live stations.
Was very privileged to meet with the Executive Chef Moon as he brought us around the restaurant and even served us something special was off the menu.
The special corn and tomato only available in certain season and offered in his restaurant for this month. Besides is smoked salmon in black sesame sauce.
This has to be one of our best Japanese dining experience in Singapore. The ambience was quite and refine. The staff were all very attentive, alert and friendly. The food was excellent. No wonder the place was fully booked and no surprise for me and wife to visit again.
This was what we ordered.
Ika Kari Kari Age
Crispy Fried Squid, Truffle Miso Mayo, Lime
Toro
Tuna Belly
King Prawn
Teriyaki Chicken
Kagoshima Wagyu Ishi Yaki
Kagoshima Wagyu, Garlic Sauce, Amarillo
Assorted sweets and chocolates.
Usually after a nice meal, we will be rushing home to take care of the kids, but thanks to my mother who helped us for the night, we moved on to our 3rd venue for a drink and some desserts. Again with AmEx Platinum Card, I was able to tap into the Palate Programme Privileges which offers 15% off beverages at bars under the Palate programme.
Napoleon Food & Wine Bar (15 points scored with wife)
I chose Napoleon because of the deco and also the feel of able to chill and relax.
We ordered Tortillas and Lemon Tart.
As for me, the thing that excites me was the “32 wines by the glass” concept. The centrepiece at Napoleon Food & Wine Bar is a selection of 32 European wines, available on Enomatic wine dispenser machines. This offers customers the opportunity to have tasting portions, half glass or a full glass of the wines, with prices starting at S$8 per glass.
Jessie (the boss) came and met up with us and brought me along for a bit of educational talk on the wines available and showed me how to choose and get my wines.
After my selection, we just sit back, enjoy the wine and desert, talked and feel blessed to have such a night off from work.
It’s so nice to date my wife once a while, bring her out for a nice dinner and drinks. Wind down from a period of busyness and enjoy life.
A selfie before we head home (20 points scored with wife)
Perfect 10!
