This is more nerve-wreaking than taking O Levels. Way before the registration date, we are already taking steps to ensure a smooth passage for Joey’s entry into Primary 1. And we are talking about a neighbourhood school, not one of those “famous” school where the parents have do PV (parent volunteer) work for at least 40 hours. To be frank, it’s a way the school gets free labour for nothing. Cos at the end of the day, PV doesn’t guarantee a slot in that school for your child.
What have we done?
Joined the school’s alumni group. This would ensure that we are eligible for the Phase 2A (1) registration. But ended up it was useless, cos the rule states that the parent needs to be part of the alumni association not later than 30 June 2011. The irony was, Woodlands Primary School Alumni Association was only formally formed in Aug 2011. Durh!
Setting off early for registration. I told Joey that when she is older, she will have to learn how to go to school on her own by bus. I think she was quite excited by that prospect.
Looks like the primary school systems have not upgrade to check our results as old boys via computers. Kless flipped when I told her I do not have PCs in my primary school days. And I thought we were only 4 years apart in age. Looks like 4 is a big gap.
A glimpse of my P1 results.
Thankfully there weren’t a lot of people registering under Phase 2A (2), just took us less than 30 mins and we were out of the school, all done and just got to wait for the result of the registration.
Joey was checking that all our details are right. Maybe she can be a prefect like her Daddy too.

Are you ready for P1 registration? Can we ever be ready for such an important day? Why does Singapore Education System has to impose on us such troublesome and stressful procedures for P1 registration?
I guess we can do nothing about this system, unless one day my child or yours is able to be elected as Cabinet Ministers and maybe, just maybe, change the education system in Singapore. In the meantime, just live with it lor…
