Masons Premium DIY Terrarium Kit

 Sponsored Review
[A special post by Joey Kuan]

A few weeks ago, Masons sent us their premium DIYterrarium Kit for a review. Which naturally gained huge excitement as we had been to several terrarium making classes also by masons in the past and had always enjoyed them thoroughly.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this terrarium kit, which is now on sale on the masons’ website, included materials for a perfect Saturday project:
1 glass bowl ~ 1 set of gardening tools ~ 1 bag of mix soil ~ 3 pots of succulents
3 bags of decorative pebbles ~ 1 drip bottle ~ 1 bag of figurines

The packaging for the materials provided are also re-sealable for future use!

So, on the very next Saturday, we all gathered together in our living room and got to work piecing together our terrarium, which was a rather simple procedure as the kit also included an instruction manual! Allowing us to follow each step and add our own twists to them.

The procedure was simple but very fun to carry out because who doesn’t love a little hands-on activity, especially for young children, as a way to create their own terrarium with decorations they placed themselves.

The procedure is as follows:

  • First, fill the bottom of the glass bowl with small rocks [please caution around young children]

  • Secondly, fill the bowl with the mix soil provided in convenient re-sealable bags, to the half-way mark, enough to completely cover the bottom of the succulents and hold them in place. [Don’t be afraid to get your surroundings a little dirty while pouring in the soil, it’s all part of the process]

  • Thirdly, you can start putting your succulents into the bowl or you can put the decorative pebbles first, whichever you fancy [note: the succulents can be fragile, so do be careful when taking them out their pots]

  • From there on, you can add in the different decorative pebbles/rocks and the figurines provided in the kit as well! Personally, I found the flamingo figurines really cute and the perfect addition to the terrarium, giving it a bright and homely feel.

  • The gardening tools provided will serve very useful as well in arranging the plants, the soil around them, and the decorations you put in. As a bonus, they also serve useful for future projects or just as decorations around the house.
  • The drip bottle is to easily water your plants weekly, and has exactly the right capacity to water all four succulents provided thoroughly!

Time to reveal our final product!

How do you like it? It was honestly a really enriching and fun experience, being able to create and decorate our very own terrarium, especially with such pretty plants. The decorations suited the plants provided and the huge glass bowl we used as well!

Throughout the process, there wasn’t a single time where we were confused about what to do or how to go about piecing together the terrarium as the instructions were very clear and simple to follow!

These kind of projects where there is a lot of freedom to do what we want and decorate it to suit our likings, my family would specially make time for them as all the opportunities we have gotten so far have been really fun and interesting.

The last time we made DIY terrariums, also by Masons, was at an event in Garden’s By the Bay. There was a workshop and we had the chance to create mini terrariums which we loved very much. That was why when the news about this review came about, we were all very excited.

Generally, I think that this DIY kit is something that will definitely garner your family’s attention and get them to spend an hour or two away from gadgets to create the terrarium together! Especially for children that may have become restless due to the long hours stuck at home because of COVID, this DIY kit will definitely entertain them! It is a great family-bonding activity, and your family can take turns watering the plants every week.

Thank you Masons for sending us this DIY kit, we had a really fun time putting it together as a family!
