YOON Salon Reviews: A Premier Creative Hair Coloring Experience

Since March, both my wife and I have been working from home (WFH) due to the Covid-19 situation in Singapore now. It was a “dream come true” experience but after months of staying indoors, especially during the Circuit Breaker period where we were all confined to our homes, life has become a little bit dull and a never ending repetition of our daily activities. Especially without the time to time self-pampering and a break from the, ironically, dull office jobs both of us have.

I truly appreciate my wife for being such an unbelievably hard-working wonder woman at home. Taking care of the kids, cooking for the family, making sure everything is fine in the house, while juggling all of her daily work commitments. And here I was thinking of how the rest of the family and I can show our love and appreciation towards all of her hard work, when the opportunity arose for a makeover, which I jumped on board immediately! This was the best chance to pamper my wonderful partner and give her one relaxing day for all the days she’s worked so hard to give us the rest and comfort during the quarantine period so far.

The booking with the salon was done without much fuss as per other similar experiences, and on the day when we visited the place, we were pleasantly surprised by the warmth and friendliness of the staff despite the many inconveniences associated with working during this season of pandemic.

Sad to say, many of the missus’ previous experiences in other places had deprived her of any form of enjoyment in the area of hair makeover, especially for coloring. That was because the past stylists had been quite “harsh” with their criticisms on the condition of her hair and how poorly taken care of it was, etc. Coupled with many hard sell tactics employed by some of the stylists, it came to a point where she was not very willing to give it another try.

But thankfully at this conveniently located hairstudio, the paranoia of a bad visit was more than proven wrong and it was indeed an incredible positive turn-around in the missus’ experience there.


When the hairstylist went through with her on the selection of colours available for her treatment, he was very professional and did not sound at all haughty. He gave his advice but was not pushy towards her to make any decisions on the spot, nor was he the slightest bit impatient while she was pondering over her different options. In fact, he went the extra mile to make good suggestions that would ensure the best care possible for her.

I felt this was what won my wife over right from the beginning. In fact, she enjoyed it so much that she commented that she would love to go back again for future treatments and services, knowing that there would not be any hard-selling from the employees and hairdressers in the shop.


 What Makes A Good Hair Coloring Experience?

1.     The stylist’s professionalism.

The main stylist sat down with her patiently to explain about her current hair condition, how her DIY coloring job at home had not fully covered the grey spots and had left pockets of unbalanced colours in her tresses.

He suggested a method, and reassured her that it was the best possible choice to cover both the grey and to ensure the coloring and highlights would last for a longer time - and that was to carry out a 2-step process of bleaching and colouring.

 

To even out the colour tone of her hair, the suggestion was to bleach the bottom portions of her hair to make it lighter so that it matched the colour at the top part, and then cover the entire length with a colour that would brighten up her entire look. The bleached portions will show a lighter colour after several washes and it will create a look that is youthful and sophisticated at the same time.



2.     The service rendered throughout the entire process.

Despite the busyness of the day, and in light of the inconveniences caused by the situation now, the staff gave their best to attend to my wife’s needs, by constantly communicating with her the steps that were to be done, explaining and making sure my wife was okay with the whole process.

It was great that the staff were not being pushy. They were patient and reassuring, with genuine care shown throughout. That certainly played a big part in the pleasant time she spent there. 



3.     Openness and friendliness of the staff.

We were both really happy with the friendliness of the staff and how warmly they welcomed us. And the best thing was that they were not just friendly and open to us (the customers), the atmosphere in the place was amicable and happy, and the staff were kind to each other, evident from their conversations throughout the entire 3 hours or so, we would constantly hear them thanking each other for their assistance whether big or small. One can only imagine how nice it would be to be working in such a positive and supportive environment.

 

When you put value in your colleagues, it really causes the customers to feel valued too. A people-oriented environment could hardly go wrong. The missus commented that this was pretty rare because most of the time, she observed a lot of gossiping and bantering in other places she’s been to before.


 Now, let’s get to the most important part, shall we? Since the main aim was to get her tresses taken care of and hopefully, transformed for the better, the outcome was still the crux. This was what she looked like before the transformation:



And this was what she looked like after the transformation was complete! The salon even did a simple curl for my wife so the final look was even more amazing!'





Verdict from the missus herself:

Overall, I was incredibly happy with the services and the experience at the salon. I really liked the friendly and lovely interactions between the staff, as well as the warm and comfortable atmosphere in the place. Although I have had bad experiences in the past with other salons, I don’t have any reservations about visiting a place such as this one where I felt really comfortable and well-taken care of by the people there! Thank you so much to the experts at the salon for the wonderful experience!
