4D3N Bangkok Trip 2015 - Part 2

So if you have missed the Part 1 of this series, you can click here to read.

As mentioned previously, I will be introducing this Night Market we have explored for the first time based on a friend’s recommendation who has been staying in Bangkok for more than 10 years.

Train Night Market Ratchada aka Talad Nud Rod Fai, located behind Esplanade Cineplex (easily assessable by MRT – Thailand Cultural Centre Station). Don’t be mistaken by the main Rod Fai Market which is located at Srinakarin Soi 51, behind Seacon Square Shopping Mall. Train Night Market Ratchada was opened earlier this year but already it is bustling with market goers, as it guarantees great food and a variety of night market shopping.

Night falls and we see more people arriving at the market, where the food stalls are quickly being filled and businesses thrives.

As tired legs brought us nearer to the section for drinks, we were easily drawn by the music and ambience around the area.

This is a place I will surely come back again when I visit Bangkok.

In all our traveling log, we have never done a sponsored food review overseas before. So for the first time, all thanks to my fellow Daddy Blogger friend Eddie, we were introduced to Jacqueline and her unique Ping’s Thai Teochew Seafood Restaurant.

The main shop is located at Asoke and the new outlet is at Pathumwan Princess Hotel (level 2).

Led by the renowned Chef Saetia Hung Ping, who has more than half a century’s culinary skills to perfect Ping’s superior and naturally flavorful chicken broth as well as many unique dishes.

IMG_0183

For an hour or so, we were treated to the best meal on this trip, in fact in all our Bangkok trip.

End of the meal, I was left dumbfounded. Where can I find such good food in Bangkok? =)

Thanks to Jacqueline and Ping’s for the amazing experience and treat!

4D3N Bangkok Trip 2015 - Part 1

Bangkok is fast becoming our pilgrimage journey for shopping and massages. Three years in a row (2013-2015), I have travelled to this land of smiles for a short getaway. But this trip is slightly different. Firstly, Kless and me travelled without the girls. Secondly, we travelled the first time with the Guo Family, Kelvin & Joyce. So technically it was duo couple trip.

The KUans & the GUos. Specs vs No-specs.

This year, we were blessed to be hosted by Hotel Intercontinental Bangkok. Right from the Airport, we were treated like a VIP, with special airport transfer directly to the airport. Due to our early flight, we reached Bangkok around 7am and the hotel around 8am. But the front desk was so nice to accommodate us and prepared the room ready for us in less than 15mins. We were able to check-in and refresh before going out for our breakfast.

Here are some photos of the hotel.

You can check out Kless’s blog for the full review on Hotel Intercontinental Bangkok.

Though we have visited Bangkok so many times, this is the first time we tried the super famous Wanton Noodle and Pig’s Trotters Rice. What have we missed!!

IMG_0057 IMG_0058 IMG_0060

The Wanton Noodle’s bowl may look big but the portion is really quite small. An adult can easily eat 2-3 bowls.

IMG_0064

But my recommendation is to eat just one bowl (unless you are super hungry), so that you can truly enjoy the best – Pig’s Trotters Rice! This is so good, I would highly recommend (force you if I can), to eat at least 2 plates, or better still, order one plate of the rice and another plate just the pig’s trotters. Must have the sauce! I jokingly took my companions the sauce must have been cooking for 5 years non-stop.

2015-07-08 10.35.05

Surprisingly, we didn’t eat much of the street food in Bangkok this time round. Instead, we tried out some different restaurants which were really good too.

Like this one near MBK, it sells authentic Thai food – Som Tam.

IMG_0155

The must try dishes includes, BBQ Charcoal Broiled Pork Neck.

IMG_0158

Papaya Salad

IMG_0164

And the dish every table orders – Fried Chicken.

IMG_0160

Just round the same corner, you will find nice dessert shop – Mango Tango. You can find almost all types of mango dessert you want. Mango Sticky Rice (left) with mango ice cream and fresh mango. Mango Pudding (right) with mango sauce and fresh mango.

IMG_0173 IMG_0174

Me and Mr. Mango, doing the tourist shot.

IMG_0178

If you are shopping at Union Mall, which I think is better than Platinum Mall, then you can also try the Shabushi restaurant, a type of conveyor steamboat buffet. It’s about 360 Baht per person, but a time limit of 1.5 hours eating time.

IMG_0237

They serve a wide array of raw food for steamboat as well as cooked food like Sushi.

Come back for Part 2 of my Bangkok trip. I will be introducing the best Night Market in BKK and also a special review I have done in Bangkok.

AXA Young Families

Campaign Launch

Over the years, the definition of FAMILY may have deviated slightly, but largely, it still refers to a Nuclear Family with a set of parents and their children. Or playfully, we sometimes refer FAMILY as “Father And Mother I Love You”.

Whatever it is, a family remains the core unit of trust, love and comfort.

As a father of 2 girls, I have experienced my fair share of pains and heartaches when it comes to unexpected accidents. Frankly speaking, there is nothing much we can do to prevent accidents when it comes to kids, we can provide the best environment, but no one can predict the uncertainty of life. Hence, the best solution is to be PREPARED - To be aware of what help is available, what precautions can be reached and what insurances are tailored to our specific needs.

AXA Life Insurance Singapore launched a new campaign - AXA Young Families - to provide targeted protection for the whole family at different life stages, from pregnancy to birth and raising kids. While it is common for Singaporean parents to sacrifice time and money on their children, AXA would like to shine a spotlight on (not just the kids) the often-neglected parents themselves.

What can you expect in this new campaign launch – AXA Young Families?

First-of-its-kind pre-natal plan package, “AXA Family Advantage”, to allow couples, when expecting a child, the flexibility to select 8 different types of protection, savings and investment plans for themselves to prepare for the responsible role of being parents. The plan simultaneously offers pre-natal coverage for an expectant mother, and subsequently when the child is born, the parents can choose to insure their child in a straightforward process with no health questions asked.

Family Advantage_1500x1500_FB post

AXA also redesigned and enhanced their existing pre-natal insurance package, “AXA Mum’s Advantage” and “introduced a new Personal Accident plan, “AXA Band Aid”. Just as how you always keep band aids at hand, AXA Band Aid is a basic necessity as a personal accident plan for families. A replacement for its previous personal accident plan, AXA Band Aid is a simple personal accident protection plan which provides flexibility for customers to only pay for what they need and remove additional options that they do not need.

********************************************************************************************

Recently, I was having a conversation with my wife and realized that she has little recollection of what happened during her pre-natal checks. I think it’s probably because she had to go through so many tests that by the time she was done, she was all tired out from carrying the extra 20kg with her everywhere she went. For me however, I clearly remembered the cost of the checks and tests; I remembered the movements of the fetus; I remembered how worried I was before every test result was announced. Just like the photo above, sometimes I think I am the one who need the checks. That was back then, when we were not so equipped with the knowledge of what was available to us. If we can turn back the clock, I am pretty sure I will be well prepared to provide a smooth and hassle-free delivery for my wife (in terms of finances) and also a “worry-free” experience for me.

So here is what AXA has in store for all Parents with newborns / young toddlers.
