HTC Flyer Launch (26 Apr 2011)

This is the first time I ever attended a product launch. Was expecting a boring and long session where the presenter will talk about all the different specifications of the new HTC Tablet. But thank God, the session was only about 30mins.

Attended the media launch with Yvonne and Joyce, cos we can’t make it for the night time consumer launch.

The 2 girls seems excited to receive the goodie bag. Actually just a few pieces of paper to intro the product. Now even a free post-it..

This is what we were suppose to see.

HTC Flyer Specifications

CPU speed: Qualcomm MSM 8255, 1.5GHz
Platform: Android with HTC Sense
Memory: Internal storage – 32GB, RAM – 1GB
Dimensions: 195.4 x 122 x 13.2 mm
Weight: 420 grams with battery
Camera: 5 megapixel colour camera with auto focus

So much for the boring intro..as a consumer, I do not care much for the specs, cos every new product will surely be boasting of their newest version, best upgrades, etc… the presenter mentioned about Honeycomb and Gingerbread. For a moment I thought he was talking about food… =p

The highlight was when we had the chance to get up-close and personal with the real thing.

I like the Notes taking function. The HTC Flyer comes with HTC Timemark, a great way to remember things from meetings. When you use the HTC Pen to write down your notes, HTC Timemark also takes an audio recording of the meeting at the same time. So if you want to check something afterwards, simply tap on the word in your notes and it will replay the audio from that point in the meeting. Cool right?

Joyce loves the 7” screen and how light it is.

We tried the camera function and did some on-the-spot editing.

Final verdict:

I am not a tech person, I can only give my comments and reviews based on how I feel after using it for a while. So, will there be a chance to try it? (just wishing)First impression was okay, compared to iPad, I think the apps are not there yet. Size and weight is a plus. But will it make taking notes or watching video not as nice? I heard HTC Flyer can play games without downloading it, that could be something interesting. HTC Sense is one of the major selling point, but seriously without the chance to use it for a period of time, how can one be able to understand the Sense pleasure? Selling price will be S$1068 and HTC Flyer will be launched officially in May island-wide.
